Ebb & Flow of the Tides

I have to go with the ebb & flow of the tides -- work tides, that is! My "tween jobs" could last a minute or a month. Use it wisely! Immediately after pushing send to deliver my work, I clean house, do yardwork, grocery shop...Cuz when a job comes in, I may be stuck at the keyboard for a looong time.

Freelance Feast or Famine

One client offers me a well-paid 2-day rush job. I said yes. An hour later another client offers me a well-paid 2-day rush job, on the same 2 days! I had to turn it down. Now I could go for weeks with no work. Feast or famine. Peaks and valleys. Don't freelance if you can't handle the "sine curve" of the work load!

[TODAY's TIP:  What's a sine curve, you ask? SINE CURVE]

Wondering where I've been for a while? In bed with pneumonia! Ah, the freedom of being a freelance is great. But the downside is that there's only you and there's no corporate "paid sick leave". Yup, no sick days for freelancers! Lost time. Lost money. Lost clients? But you don't want to lose your house!

[TODAY's TIP:  Consider "disabilty insurance" if you freelance: INFO]
