Creating Today's e-Portfolio

I wrote an article for the latest issue of the AMWA JOURNAL (Volume 26, Number 4, 2011) entitled: “Electronic, Portable, and Green: Imperatives for Creating Today’s e-Portfolio”. The AMWA JOURNAL is the official journal of the American Medical Writers Association; this issue was the GREEN THEME ISSUE.

Today's Webcam Adventures

Wanted to Skype with my laptop (& its built-in webcam) closed--as I usually use it closed as a CPU/tower back behind my giant monitor. Tried my old webcam; fought with it for hours & hours; no way was it gonna work with WIN7. Off to Walmart for a new $19 webcam. Was truly plug-n-play! Up and running & Skyping in no time. All that time wasted messing with 'old' technology. Where's IT when you need them? Oh yeah, I am IT! (Such is the lot of a freelancer!)

TODAY's TIP: SEE MY NEW WEBCAM

The More The Merrier !

Was in and out and about this weekend, which involved packing up my laptop several times. Was very glad I had ordered extra laptop power cords! One I keep always plugged in in my home office; the second I keep in my laptop case for unknown places; and the third I keep at my weekend vacation house. No more climbing under my desk and unplugging things! Ever! Just grab my laptop and go!

[TODAY's TIP: I got mine aftermarket and saved.]______________________________________________

Don't Throw Anything Away!

A client contacted me today about a slide deck I'd done for them 2 years ago! And been paid for! However, I still had the work, and reference materials, so I could answer their questions and make the revisions they needed. Since I have gone totally "e" (electronic) and therefore "paperless", keeping things doesn't clutter up my office like in the old days. You just have to keep your hard disk super organized: by year, by customer, by job...

[TODAY's TIP: "The Paperless Office"]
