Clickety Clack! Is That My Laptop?

Pushed laptop 'on' button. Clickety clack. Oh no! Laptop dying! I have to work! Jumped in car & took it to my computer guy. At 5pm got 'puter back good as new. Thank goodness for outsourced computer services! Twas the dirty fan. Vacuum cleaner won't work due to HP (bad) design; need to blow out dust with compressed air.

TODAY's TIP: HP laptop fans are famous for bad design and running hot. Feeling adventurous? Clean your own fan video. HAHA. Best $100 I ever spent on my IT guy!

Just call me "Life Guard" !

I get a lot of "rescue work." Another writer did a bad, or incomplete, job. And it needs to be fixed--and fast! Hence, last minute, due yesterday, rescue work. Take it! It's not fun, or exciting, but it's work. Don't let your ego get in the way of your dollars. Yes I gave up time I planned to have off, but, I made brownie points with my client.

TODAY's TIP: It's not this, but it sure rescues my client's a**! ________________________________________________

I love Friday's! Why? Well...

...the morning is a regular work morning with clients calling and emailing about ongoing projects. But then they all go out to lunch, many don't come back, many leave early -- and I find Friday afternoons peaceful and quiet without any dinging email or ringing phones. And I get twice as much work done without the interruptions! Full disclosure: When in Corp. America, I too was guilty of the "Friday afternoons"!   :-)

TODAY's TIP: Friday afternoon cartoons.

Phone is Ringing After Labor Day!

Yup, I was right! After the summer doldrums, now the clients are back from vacation and back in their offices and the phone is once again ringing. Yeah! I always make sure I take on extra work in the spring so I have enough money to get me through the summer. And, since work has its ups and downs, I always keep a 3-month reserve in liquid funds.

TODAY's TIP: What are "summer doldrums"?
